Church of Santa Maria dell’Orto, in Rome, Italy.

For the fifth time, Our Lady appeared in Fatima to the three children; Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta.  By this time, there were many coming to see the apparition and the wonders that accompanied it.

On September 13th, the assembled multitudes, now some thirty thousand strong, again saw the sum dim at noon and then a globe of light descending on the oak tree.  They also saw white roses falling form the sky.  The visionaries were once again reminded of the importance of saying the Rosary to end the war.  She told them that in October she would be accompanied by St. Joseph and the Child Jesus.  (God-Sent, 111)

Having appeared to the children, the Blessed Virgin left this message:

“Continue to pray the Rosary in order to obtain the end of the war.  In October Our Lord will come, as well as Our Lady of Dolors and Our Lady of Carmel.  St. Joseph will appear with the Child Jesus to bless the world.  God is pleased with your sacrifices.  He does not want you to sleep with the rope on, but only to wear it during the daytime.” (God-Sent, 114)

This fifth appearance of Our Lady, though short, was in preparation for the one to come the following month.
